How to use KinderFinder
One search box, everything else on the results screen. Free, no account, works in 7 languages.
Search
- Enter your postal code on the home page and pick a radius (0.5–25 km), or type a centre's name in the name search to jump straight to it
- Toronto, the GTA (905) and Metro Vancouver are covered: your postal code picks the region automatically (M and L postals search Toronto and the GTA together, since the boundary is porous and a Vaughan search should see North York centres too; V postals search Metro Vancouver)
- On the results screen, the “Within N km” line under the heading is a radius picker: widen your search without going back
- Add your commute (home + optional work postal) on the home page to rank centres by how far off your route they are
Filter & sort
- The chips filter by funding: Accepts fee subsidy and CWELCC enrolled ($10 a day) (pick either, or both to see centres offering both), plus Age Group and Has vacancies
- “More filters” opens everything else: minimum city quality score, minimum Google rating, operator type, and the free EarlyON drop-in layer
- Sort stacks up to three keys in order, e.g. quality score first, then distance
Map & list
- Desktop shows list and map side by side; on a phone, the Show Map button swaps views
- Marker shapes and colours match the program badges (the legend explains them); tap a marker or a card to select, and the map centres on it
- Everything on the map is also in the list; the map is never the only way to reach information
Save & share
- The bookmark on each card saves it (up to 20); the bookmark icon in the top bar opens your saved list from anywhere
- Share sends one link, like sharing any website; the recipient can view your list, then merge it into their own
- Everything stays on your device: no account, and we never see your list
- Track your applications: on your saved list, each centre has a tracking section for waitlist dates, tours, offers with deadlines, fee quotes, and notes
- Add tours and follow-ups to your calendar with one tap; the saved list shows when follow-ups are due
- Print a structured tracker to review together, and export a backup file; tracking lives only in your browser, so the backup matters
- After each visit, fill the centre's tour checklist (good / concern / didn't check, plus notes); once two are filled, Compare tours puts them side by side
- Not sure what to write to a centre? Use the email templates: joining a waitlist, checking in, asking for a tour, answering an offer
- Use it on two devices or with your partner: Send to a device turns your tracker into a link (the data travels inside the link, nothing is uploaded); copy the link to any device or send it to your partner, then edits from both sides merge, newest per centre
Details & applying
- Tap a card to expand it: licensed spaces, city quality table, quality dimensions (tap to open), stars, contact and apply links
- Every centre also has a full profile page (link on the expanded card) you can share or print
- When you're ready to visit: bring the tour checklist
